What to know about cannabis?

Cannabis is a plant which is composed of 120+ components which are known as cannabinoids.

Cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), are the two most important and researched cannabinoids where tetrahydrocannabinol is the one responsible for causing the bliss and high feeling that is used for recreational purposes and voluntary use whereas cannabidiol is the non-intoxicating component which does not give that high feeling but is used for medical purpose in the form of tablets, gummies, and drinks.

 How can CBD be used to benefit health?

Now that we understand the basics of cannabis with its two important components that are THC and CBS let us see how CBD is used in medical purposes and benefits health because of its effectiveness and promising results in the medical field. Here are seven ways CBD has proved to improve health:

1. Cannabis used to Lower blood pressure:

Cannabis component CBD is used to lower blood pressure because it’s known for its interaction with the endocannabinoid system which promotes the widening of blood vessels, it is also known for its calming effect which helps to lower stress and anxiety so indirectly it contributes to lower blood pressure

2. Reducing inflammation:

CBD components reduce inflammation which is caused by neuropathic pain and otherwise.

3. Preventing relapse in drug and alcohol addiction:

CBD has shown results in helping people to prevent relapse of drug and alcohol addiction because of its calming effects which reduce stress, anxiety, impulse control, and frustration which tempts people to lose control, but Cannabis products are not an alternative for drug and alcohol because of THC component and should be overused.

4. Treating anxiety disorders:

Cannabis use of the CBD component was first and most commonly used for treating anxiety in people and effective research and development have now made CBD component for treating generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

5. Treating gastrointestinal (GI) disorders:

CBD is known for its multidimensional use which in modern times have been used for preventing and treating gastrointestinal disorders and even for intense GI disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), Crohn’s, ulcerative colitis and more and all thanks to CBD’s anti-inflammatory properties which are a key component to reducing and preventing symptoms.

6. Preventing seizures:

The CBD component of cannabis has shown results in preventing and treating seizures and epilepsy.

7. Fighting cancer:

CBD has not only been used to help ease the side effects of chemotherapy but has also been found in studies to inhibit cell growth and trigger cell death in cervical cancer cell lines. Additionally, it exhibits various anti-cancer properties that can aid in preventing different types of cancer, treating tumors, and supporting the immune system.
