For tackling the problem of pimples you need to use the right skincare products. It might help in calming down the inflammation and reduce the chances of visible acne. A gel based formulation is lightweight and easy to incorporate. You have to find the acne gel and start using it in your skincare routine.

But firstly you have to understand the concern you are dealing with. Suppose if you have redness due to pimples you need to find a gel to reduce pimple redness. Selecting an appropriate effective gel to reduce pimple redness and swelling begins by understanding the root cause behind pimple inflammation and which ingredients can be actually helpful for soothing pimple concerns.

Why does pimple redness and swelling happen?

Redness and swelling occurs due to inflamed pimples. When the pores get clogged due to excess sebum which gets mixed with dead skin cells and dirt it can cause inflammation. It happens because the body’s immune system responds by sending inflammatory cells to the pimple affected area.

This response of the inflammatory cells can lead to redness, swelling and visible change in texture. When we pick or pop a pimple it worsens the condition because the body’s defence gets activated and causes inflammation as a defense. It is advised not to peel or burst any pimples.

How does a gel formulation help?

Gel based formulations are very lightweight and non greasy which makes them absorb easily into the skin. They can be incorporated into a daily skincare routine very easily because they do not feel heavy or difficult to use. Gels help in delivering active ingredients very quickly and efficiently which helps in achieving targeted delivery. This is why they become suitable for pimple problems.

A well-formulated anti acne gel to reduce pimple redness and swelling may help:

  • Calm down inflammation
  • Reduce excess sebum secretion
  • Clear out pores
  • Reduce chances of breakouts

It can be used for taking care of blackheads, whiteheads, pimples and reoccurring breakouts. The best gel for pimples can be the one which has the right ingredients.

Ingredients that are actually helpful

  • Salicylic acid: Salicylic acid is the golden ingredient when it comes to deal with acne prone skin. This little chemical molecule is an oil-soluble molecule that has the ability to penetrate deep into the pores of the skin and clear out the debris. It dissolves the bonds holding dead cells together which helps in loosing up all dead skin cells, sebum and dust and let it clear out from the pores. Also salicylic acid is a great anti-inflammatory ingredient that helps in calming down the irritated skin.
  • Niacinamide: Niacinamide is another exfoliant which helps in reducing the pimples. It is an alpha hydroxy acid which performs by clearing out the sebum from the surface. It has very good anti-inflammatory action which helps in soothing the redness and swelling. It also helps in repairing skin barrier function.
  • Contacticel: It is a great purifying ingredient derived from red algae. Its major role is to control excess sebum production. It is doing its action on the hyperactive sebaceous glands and reducing the oil production. It acts as a protective shield against pollution and prevents skin from dust accumulation. It also prevents recurring acne.
  • Tea tree oil: It is a plant derived alternative for harsh chemicals. It has great anti-inflammatory properties which soothes the irritated acne skin. It also breaks down the hard plugs of sebum that can clog the pores. It contains terpenes which break down the acne causing bacteria’s cellular walls and prevent infection.
  • Glycolic acid: Glycolic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid. It is generally derived from sugarcane. This AHA is unique from the rest because of its smaller molecule size which makes it easily penetrate and perform exfoliating action. It does so by loosening the bonds between dead skin cells on the surface which helps in declogging the pores on the surface and reduce acne.

For taking care of skin issues like redness and swelling that happens due to pimples, you need to find the right product. It does not have to be the first product you see. Search for ingredients that are scientifically backed and select a formulation that suits your skin type.

It does not stop at choosing the right product. You need to be consistent in following a skincare routine. No product can be helpful in making pimples vanish permanently but a right acne spot corrector can be helpful in soothing the skin and reducing swelling and irritation on the skin that pimples often bring.
