A lot of people resort to smoking cessation medications to help reduce withdrawal symptoms and nicotine cravings. These medications can help boost your chances of quitting smoking for good. Nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) is the most commonly used medication by smokers to quit smoking for good. This is available online through reliable suppliers like nicotine prescription Australia.

What Preventive Healthcare Really Means For Everyday Life

The role of NRT is to reduce the withdrawal symptoms experienced by smokers who try to quit by giving them a small and controlled amount of nicotine, excluding the other dangerous chemicals that you can find in cigarettes. This minute amount of nicotine can help you satisfy your cravings for nicotine hence reducing the urge to go back to smoking.

Doctors and medical experts think that the use of NRTs can be the most reliable way to quit smoking. Some smokers experience mild to moderate effects from using NRT, but in general, NRTs are safe to use. NRTs differ in form, and they are also used in various ways. Some NRTs work better on some people but not on others.

Patch

This can be bought over the counter or from outlets like Nicotine Prescription Australia. It is placed on the skin, and it can give you a small and steady amount of nicotine.

Gum

You can buy this over the counter. You have to chew this for the nicotine to be released. The trick is to chew this until you get that tingling sensation. Then, you have to place this in between the cheek and the gums.

Lozenge

This is another over-the-counter NRT. It can be put in the mouth like candy. As it gradually dissolves in the mouth, it releases nicotine.

Inhaler

This is a prescription-based NRT. This has a cartridge that is attached to a mouthpiece. You can get a specific amount of nicotine by inhaling through the mouthpiece.

Nasal Spray

This is another prescription-based NRT. You simply have to pump the bottle that contains nicotine. Put it in your nose and spray.

Before you use any of the NRT products, you have to know a few things. The more cigarettes you smoke in a day, the higher the dose you should start with. Quitting is easier when you have a counseling program to go with the NRT. Don’t smoke while you use any of the NRT products. This may cause nicotine to accumulate up to toxic levels. Nicotine replacement also helps you to avoid gaining weight while you’re going through nicotine replacement therapy. It’s still possible for you to gain weight when you completely stop using any nicotine product. It’s crucial for the dose of nicotine to be slowly reduced.

You have to make sure that all nicotine products are away from children’s reach because nicotine is a poison.
